Local Medical Support Command Unit Benefit w/ Matt Gary
COUNTRY MUSIC NEWCOMER MATT GARY TO PERFORM
IN SUPPORT OF DISASTER VOLUNTEERS
To Benefit Local Medical Support Command Unit
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 13, 2009)—Matt Gary (17 Music Entertainment),
one of country music’s most industrious newcomers, is scheduled to perform alongside some of Music City’s finest recording artists, A-list musicians and professional dancers—all of whom will come together to perform for the benefit of the Tennessee Chapter of the Medical Support Command National Disaster Response (MSCNDR). The inaugural MSCNDR dinner and charity concert (presented by Third Coast Broadcast) will be held Friday, May 29, 2009 at The Factory At Franklin in Jamison Hall (230 Franklin Rd., Franklin, TN) beginning at 6:00 p.m.
This charity event is one of many for Matt Gary. A genuine humanitarian, Matt’s personal motivation to give back is lifelong and heartfelt. "As a performer, I feel it is my duty to give back to the community and others who support my dream,” said Gary. “The dedication and continued efforts by the Medical Support Command National Disaster Response chapter exemplifies people coming together to do some good for others. This event, and our participation, is a reciprocal gesture.”
Matt will be joined by Vanessa Mandrell, Baillie and the Boys, Lane Brody, Colleen Lloy, Jennifer Brantley, Della Enns, Charlie Allen and others who will lend their time and talents to support this purposeful endeavor. Other highlights of the evening will include dance showcases by John Ford’s Portland Ballroom (with special guest Sandra Webster), Rocky Top Revue, the Scott Ellis School of Irish Dance and Charles Garvey. The event will also feature an art exhibit by the Millennium Music Center, a silent auction and meet & greet opportunities. National radio host, Steve Gill, the “Voice Of Tennessee,” will emcee.
Established in 2006, MSCNDR is a non-profit organization comprised of an all encompassing volunteer workforce that is dedicated to developing, organizing, equipping and maintaining a national capability to deliver medical care to the victims of disaster when the need exceeds that of the local responders.
MSCNDR members contribute their time, energy and expertise to help others in a variety of training activities, community service projects and real disaster scenarios such as: search and rescue, manning first aid stations and providing aid to evacuees. Their aim is to save lives through community-based disaster preparedness and response initiatives. By partnering closely with the American Red Cross and Emergency Management Agency, this specialty unit responds, day or night, to offer additional and immediate assistance to communities and individuals in crisis. “We are proud to say that the MSCNDR responded and aided the tornado victims in Murfreesboro, Tenn., with recovery, rescue and search of the area,” Colleen Lloy (event organizer and performer) introduced. “We have the utmost respect for these highly-trained individuals, who work under the guidance of FEMA and offer tireless hours of time and energy to ensure the safety of our communities. We are honored and excited in the opportunity to donate the proceeds from the event to our local chapter.”
“The MSCNDR provides a much needed service to our state and its communities. It’s important to have such specialty units in place during times of natural disaster and crisis. I encourage everyone to come out and show their support,” added Gary.
Matt recently celebrated the national release of his debut single “The Days You Live For” (written by Frank Myers and Wade Kirby); the song is on country radio now. He filmed the corresponding music video that can be seen on a variety television programs across the country. He was named “Who New To Watch in 2009” by CMA Close-Up magazine and has been featured in Country Weekly’s “Listen Up!” Matt’s album (THE DAYS YOU LIVE FOR) is scheduled for a late summer release.
